Job Description
The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of English position to begin August 2023. We seek a colleague with an imaginative, rigorous, and significant research program in English who will publish actively, teach English composition, English literature, and linguistics while mentoring undergraduate students, participate in student advising and departmental service.

We seek candidates whose research, teaching, and service prepare them to make significant contributions to equity and social justice at UVI and beyond. We will be especially interested in candidates whose professional experience, community engagement, and personal background have prepared them particularly well to serve students from groups historically underrepresented in higher education.

Required Qualifications

Each candidate must have a Ph.D. or its equivalent in English with the ability to teach English composition, English literature, and linguistics.

While performing job duties, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, reach, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close, distance and color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Work environment: The noise level in the work environment will probably be low to moderate.
